Route #8 Celebration - Loughman - Davenport - Poinciana - Intercession City

This route crosses the center of the Florida peninsula, linking planned communities, former railroad settlements, and areas of recent growth tied to tourism and real estate development. The journey begins in Celebration, a city designed in the 1990s as a comprehensive urban planning project, and continues toward Loughman and Davenport, towns that emerged around the railroad and agriculture.

As the route advances toward Poinciana and Intercession City, the landscape reflects the profound changes the region has undergone in recent decades. Former agricultural fields and cattle lands have given way to large residential developments, high-capacity roadways, and bedroom communities connected to the Orlando metropolitan area.

Intercession City, founded in the late nineteenth century, retains traces of its railroad and religious past, offering a striking contrast with the rapid growth of the surrounding areas. The route illustrates how central Florida has shifted from an agricultural economy to a model dominated by tourism and urban expansion.
