Route #85 Walton – Ankona – Eden – White City – Cana

Plantation Style House by the Indian River
Route #85 covers 57 round-trip miles along Florida’s Treasure Coast in Martin and St. Lucie counties, following historic coastal, agricultural, and railroad corridors that once connected early communities along the state’s eastern shoreline. The route begins at the county line on the mainland shore of the Indian River, a lagoon first navigated by Spanish explorers and once home to native groups such as the Ais and Jaega.

The ride heads north along South Indian River Drive, passing through small historic settlements including Walton, Eden, Ankona, and Eldred, framed by old homes, docks, and wide river views. The route then turns west along Midway Road, crossing the Savannas Preserve State Park and moving through more populated areas such as Indian River Estates, White City, and River Park, where the scenery shifts from coastal to suburban and agricultural.

The final section follows Glades Cut O Road alongside the Florida East Coast Railway, crossing the open landscapes of Allapattah Flats, former rail stops, and rural areas that mark the transition toward Florida’s interior. Surrounded by fields, ranches, and planned communities, the route traces the changing patterns of settlement before returning to the starting point.
